Setmelanotide (trade name IMCIVREE) is a medication used for chronic weight management in individuals with obesity caused by genetic conditions affecting the melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) pathway. Specifically, it's approved for individuals with obesity due to deficiencies in proopiomelanocortin (POMC), proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 1 (PCSK1), or leptin receptor (LEPR), as well as Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS).
